Coronavirus Health Measures

Good Afternoon CRBFA,

As the news surrounding Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) continues to evolve, it is important that you know that Capital Region BOCES has had a team working, especially over the last week, to review our emergency preparedness plans, and that they are actively planning for a variety of potential scenarios relating to student/staff quarantines, building/school closures and region-wide closures.  I am in very close contact with the District Superintendent surrounding these issues, and will alert you to any new information as it becomes available; I am confident that the unique needs of our students and staff, both in school and out, are deemed paramount and are under consideration at all times. Please stay closely informed by frequently checking guidance posted on BERT . . . It will be evolving.

That being said, there are a few things that I wanted to highlight for you:
  • We DO NOT have any confirmed case of COVID-19 on staff at this time . However, because of the potential for this virus to threaten the health and safety of students and staff, it is important that we are prepared, and stay informed.
  • If a long-term closure of Central Administration becomes necessary, the ability to process paper payroll checks will be interrupted.  If you do not have Direct Deposit, you may want to consider this option so that there will be no interruption in your pay.  The form is on BERT, and can be processed relatively quickly.  If you have any questions, please call the Business Office directly. I am including the link to the form here:  https://bert.capregboces.org/content/7728/direct-deposit-form
  • The best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to avoid exposure as much as possible for both your students and your colleagues.  If you are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness, stay home.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call me or your Chapter VP.  I am including their numbers here; no question is too small.

In Solidarity,
